Drafted! returns this month with its first Deathmatch of autumn. Join hosts Dean, Beth, and Lloyd for the One Yearning which asks for poets to bring their poems of yearning to celebrate Drafted’s one year anniversary. Sign ups are open with this Google Form.

This will be our 1st anniversary as a spoken word night, so we wanted to celebrate with a pun and, of course, a DEATHMATCH!

Deathmatch rules are simple: 

Every performer has 5 minutes to perform. We encourage you to write something that encompasses yearning in some way, whether it be for a lost love, a time now gone, or simply for something that cannot be. Poems will be judged by their content, performance style and the sheer feeling of yearning.

5 minute open mic slots are also available on the night! You can use this form to sign up for either the open mic, the deathmatch, or both!

We will send you a notification at least one week prior to the night to inform you if you have been successfully offered a slot. 

Doors will open at 18:30, and the event will start at 19:00.

anyone who performs will be eligible for one free drink of the following:

- any non-alcoholic bottle

- 175ml of the Canons' Gait House Wine

- A pint of Tennants, Best or Outcider

- House spirit and draught mixer
